于新豹,土木工程博士,美國德克薩斯州大學阿靈頓分校副教授,博士生導師,擔任美國土木工程協會 (ASCE) 專家委員、 美國交通協會 (TRB) 專家委員等多個專業協會委員;擔任美國、波蘭、加拿大等國家科學基金的項目評審專家,擔任Journal of Geotechnical ang Geoenvironmental Engineering 等10余個期刊的評審專家。主要研究方向為巖土傳感器(TDR),地熱能,巖土概率論設計和非飽和土。主持參與美國NSF國家科學基金、加州交通廳、德克薩斯州交通廳、路易斯安納州交通廳等科研課題10余項, 課題經費300多萬美元。發表SCI檢索論文30余篇,出版專著3部。

主要內容:

Geothermal energy is a reliable, baseload energy source which can provide power 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, independent of weather conditions and has the potential to satisfy more than four-fifths of US energy needs. Bridge deicing is critical to ensure roadway safety, mobility, and productivity. In this presentation, the background knowledge of geothermal energy applications is first reviewed. Then the operation principle of geothermal heated bridge is discussed. Cases of geothermal bridge deicing are reviewed. The recent works of thermo-TDR for soil thermal and moisture measurement are also introduced. Geothermal energy is promising to provide a green and sustainable solution to critical infrastructure needs.
